Which Of The Many Different Types Of Vape Is Right For You?

There are a lot of people who either vape or are smokers looking into vape kits that will help them stop smoking, but one of the barriers stopping them from making the switch is, rather ironically, the sheer amount of variety on offer.

The range of vapes, liquids, salts and accessories available at a vape shop can be quite bewildering at first glance, especially as they vary so much in price, shape and design.

There are all sorts of different types, but the best one for you can often depend on what type of smoker someone is, their technical understanding and the level of nicotine they need to quit.

Here are some of the most common types of vapes and which smokers they are right for.

Cigalikes

The first type of vape to go on sale and one that is typically prescribed to people trying to quit smoking is known as a cigalike.

They look, feel and act as close to a cigarette as possible, replacing the burning embers at the end with a light when it is activated. Other designs resemble cigars or even pipes.

They are often very simple to use, typically featuring cartridges which are filled with e-liquid and a battery that can easily be recharged.

They are very good for casual smokers who only have one or two cigarettes on occasion, but their limited capacity means that if you are a heavy smoker, you will very quickly need to move on to something more substantial once you are used to it.

A lot of people who are heavy smokers tend to skip straight to either a cheaper disposable vape or buy a higher-capacity box mod, depending on their preferences.

Disposable Vapes

A disposable vape is a one-piece e-cigarette that differs from a cigalike in that it is a lot bigger, typically uses salts rather than liquid, and can often be a lot cheaper and simpler to use as a result.

Disposables are increasingly popular with ex-smokers as people get used to vaping more broadly. Whilst Dr Hon Lik’s original designs were shaped more like cigars, cigarettes or pipes, disposable vapes can take many different shapes.

In some cases, a disposable vape is enough, but if you are using up more than one a week, then it might be worth looking for a more economical solution. The value of disposable vapes drops the more you have to replace them, even if they do allow for a lot of convenience.

Box Mods

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, a box mod consists of an atomiser, a tank and a battery, with components that can be mixed and matched as long as they are compatible. As the battery components often end up square in shape, they ended up becoming known as “box” mods.

In terms of overall economy, versatility and longevity, a box mod is difficult to beat, and typically people who take vaping seriously and require high-nicotine e-liquids on a relatively regular basis will ultimately find that a box mod is the best choice.

Alongside this, it is also the best way to gradually reduce nicotine levels, as all you need to do is switch the vape juices you use, rather than get rid of the entire system. This can make it good for people who not only want to quit smoking but quit nicotine entirely.

The consequence is, however, that if you want a box mod with excellent battery life, longevity and hard-wearing parts, the resulting unit is likely to cost more than a disposable one and it may take some technical knowledge to set up a box mod yourself.

However, if you are willing to learn the systems and want to tweak your experience to be absolutely perfect, a box mod is the best option by some considerable margin and experienced vapers and vape shops will help you get started if this is the route you want to take.

Pod Mods

A more recent compromise between box mods and disposable vapes is pod mods, which consist of a rechargeable reusable battery unit and a disposable cartridge or pod that is either screwed on, clipped on or connected to the battery body via a magnet.

They are much simpler to use than box mods, but also more versatile and less wasteful than disposable vapes, which has made them exceptionally appealing to a wide range of ex-smokers.

They do not need to be filled manually and only a small part of the vape has to be disposed of afterwards, although it is important to choose a pod mod vape which has a lot of different flavours and variety to choose from in order to avoid having to go without.
